KEA's On the Move!

It’s an exciting time as we celebrate 15 years in business both as a rental operator and also as a manufacturer of motorhomes and campervans. To coincide with this we are moving to a new 32,000m² property in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore where we will bring our manufacturing, rentals and sales divisions under one roof for the first time. The beauty of this is that together with expanded factory floor space for our New Zealand and Australian new vehicle builds we will have a bigger refurbishment area to cater for increasing local sales demand.

We also intend to expand our service facility further with a new retail shop and service centre where we can offer a range of services to anyone with a motorhome, campervan, caravan or even fifth wheeler who may be looking for accessories to be fitted or wanting repairs and alterations. And if you’re coming from out of town to have work carried out or you want to beat the Auckland traffic we can offer overnight parking on a secure powered site with access to our onsite dump station. The dump station is public so anyone can use it 24 hours a day and it can cater to large vehicles as well with plenty of space.

We’ve been building vehicles for our rental fleet for many years but recently I’ve noticed an ever increasing demand for purpose built or personalised motorhomes. So we have taken the bull by the horns and will be introducing some fantastic new models into our range which will entail refurbishing some of our ex rentals with different internal layouts to cater for the differing wants and needs of the private owner.

One vehicle in particular we will be offering as a limited edition makeover is the current KEA Endeavour. With a standard 6 berth layout featuring three double beds, it’s great for families but the new layout will be modified to cater for those couples who want a permanent lounge area with room for entertaining while also having permanent beds.

Another great thing about the move to Albany will be the huge sales area giving us the space to show off this expanded range of new vehicles and our own used vehicles that have been refurbished or redesigned and altered to appeal to the private buyer. So watch this space and see what’s on offer at KEA in the months to come, we think you’ll be impressed.

And, if you’re in the market to buy, we’re also pleased to be able to offer a trade-in service to anyone wanting to upgrade their older KEA into a later model or even a new vehicle if that’s what you’re looking for. We can either sell on your behalf or we will trade your pre-loved KEA on a new model.

A note on self containment: It’s good to see that more than half of NZMCA members’ motorhomes are now Certified Self Contained. However, positive as that is, it means that a considerable number are not yet CSC. Perhaps the owners bought them like that and never got around to having them certified or maybe they never go freedom camping. But in many cases, they probably don’t need much to comply. Whatever the circumstances, I think there will come a time when all recreational vehicles will legally need to be certified. We have three self containment officers employed at KEA, so if you would like to talk about getting your camper certified please give us a call and make a time to visit us in Albany.
